So excited that Portola Valley Partners, where I serve as an Operating and Investment Partner, is an Associate Producer of Show Her the Money. Show Her the Money is a meaningful documentary directed by the talented and award winning Ky Dickens, backed by the formidable Catherine Gray as Executive Producer.  The film follows the uphill path to the launching and funding of four female founded startups and the women investors who join them on their journeys.  It is currently screening on a limited basis in LA and NYC with plans for a larger theatrical release in 50 plus cities. Show Her the Money won Best Documentary at the Los Angeles International Film Festival, the Twin Cities Film Festival, and the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival, and has been awarded several other accolades.

It is because the film's stories are relatable for many.

We are at the threshold of an immense opportunity for women founders and investors.  According to an analysis by Fidelity Investments of 5 million customers over the last ten years, women investors outperformed their male counterparts by 40 basis points or .4%.  On the receiving side, according to Goldman Sachs, there exists a $1.5 trillion global credit gap for women-owned SMEs (Small & Medium Enterprises).  Columbia Venture Community’s female founder accelerator is called CVC Project 2.8 because 2.8% has been the maximum share of venture money allocated to female founders in any year so far.  The current statistic hovers around 2.0%.

The narrowing of the investment gap for women and the inevitable rise of women-controlled investable funds is an incredible investment opportunity for our extended communities.

Great to be part of this! Let’s go.
